On Saturday, June 17th Bill Cosby was released after a lengthy trial. Cosby was accused of sexual assault and misconduct of at least 50 women; however, Cosby was only put on trial for the alleged assault of Andrea Constand. Constand accused 79 year old Cosby of drugging and assaulting her at his home in 2004.
Prosecutors said they plan to retry Cosby. Additionally, Judge Steven O’Neill announced he will schedule a new trial within the next 120 days.
All of the alleged victims accused Cosby of coercing, drugging, and assaulting them while they were under the influence. Most of the victims also said that Camille Cosby, Cosby’s wife of more than 50 years, was aware of the alledged assault/s.
This is not the first time that Cosby has been faced with similar accusations. The Cosby Show star has faced his fair share of rumors and accusations over the years. None of them; however, have generated this much attention. In a 2006 interview with Howard Stern, Janice Dickinson (former Supermodel and alleged victim hinted to some of Cosby’s innapropriate and corrupt behaviors. In 2000, a woman accused Cosby of groping her.
Cosby is now on a mission to educate young people about avoiding sexual assault allegations or things that may be misconstrude as sexual assault. Cosby’s spokes person, Andrew Wyatt, plans to speak out on Good Morning America and in townhall meetings regarding the issue. Wyatt states:
This issue can affect any young person, especially young athletes of today, and they need to know what they’re facing — when they’re hanging out and partying, when they’re doing certain things they shouldn’t be doing.
