Gas prices flat in metro Savannah. This past week gas prices in Savannah have remained stagnant. According to the Savannah Gas Prices website, the national average fell 3.7 cents a gallon to $3.39. Over the Thanksgiving holiday gas prices were through the roof. According to RITA, the Thanksgiving holiday is one of the busiest travel periods of the year. With the increased amount of travelers on the road, there is a higher demand for fuel consumption. The government and oil companies can take advantage of the high demand period and raise the gas prices for a greater profit. However, we are now past the Thanksgiving traveling period and the demand for gas has now decreased. Low demand=lower prices. Undoubtedly, it will shoot back up once we reach the Christmas/New Year’s holiday mark.
